Morgantown Happenings - March 7, 2023

The Office of Interprofessional Education will celebrate and share the importance of health care professionals practicing and promoting an interprofessional collaborative approach to person-centered care during a series of events March 20-24. Featuring a variety of events, Interprofessional Education Week will include a well-being session for the Health Sciences community, an immersive educational event for students, a virtual keynote presentation open to the public and an awards ceremony.

MS3 Class of 2024

:::WVU FAMILY MEDICINE RURAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS:::

The WVU Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that the applications for its innovative Rural Scholars Program are now available. This program is designed for students committed to making rural/small town Family Medicine in West Virginia a career. Qualified MS III’s are eligible for a $10,000 stipend for their fourth year and facilitated admission to WVU’s Morgantown Family Medicine Residency. The Rural Scholars Program allows for an enhanced primary care experience in the 4th year curriculum as well as early integration into the residency experience. MS2 Class of 2025

The White Coat Ceremony will be Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 am at the Metropolitan Theatre with a reception immediately following at The Erickson Alumni Center.

You will have rehearsal on Friday, March 10 at 4:00 – 5:00pm at the Metropolitan Theatre.

The ceremony should last one hour and will be followed by a reception at The Erickson Alumni Center.

Patrice Harris, MD, graduate of the Class of 1992, distinguished healer, teacher, researcher, administrator, and the School of Medicine's 2022 Distinguished Alumnae is the keynote speaker for this year's White Coat Ceremony.

MS1 Class of 2026

The Department of Pediatrics is looking for students to participate in research in the summer between first and second year who will receive a $2500 stipend. Please contact Dr. Lee Pyles for further information at lee.pyles@hsc.wvu.edu
