Parking Lot D to close temporarily, then permanently, as construction progresses
A construction crane working on the new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital will require temporary closure of Lot D per the following time line:
- The Security Department will start closing Lot D entrance Wednesday evening (Nov. 13) around 11 p.m. All vehicles will need to be moved out of Lot D by 6 a.m. Thursday.
- Security will re-open Lot D Sunday evening (Nov. 17). Note: The opening will be based on weather, crane issues and any other factor that could cause delays.
- Due to this closure, the crosswalk from Lot E to Lot D will also be closed. Pedestrians are asked to use the crosswalk by the new Medical Center Drive bridge from Lot F1 /F2 into Lot C10.
The construction of the new Children’s Hospital will require Lot D to be closed permanently per the following time line:
- Security will close Lot D following the last home football game on Saturday, Nov. 23.
- Construction workers will start installing fencing around the entire Lot D that same evening.
- Due to this closure, the crosswalk from Lot E to Lot D will also be closed. Pedestrians are asked to use the crosswalk by the new Medical Center Drive bridge from Lot F1 /F2 into Lot C10.
- Lot D will remain closed until June 2021.
Due to the Lot D closures, starting Monday, Nov. 11, the recently-opened employee Willowdale parking garage will have open access for employees with blue parking passes from 6 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This situation will remain until the newly-formed WVU Medicine Parking Advisory Team (PAT) submits its recommendations.
