Seven Graduate From Camden Clark’s Physician Leadership Academy

WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center has graduated its second Physician Leadership Academy class.

The program, developed by Camden Clark and facilitated by Nancy Brooks, RN, MHSA, provides training focused on the basics of leadership. Curriculum includes gaining self-knowledge by completing assessments; acquiring a broader view of healthcare operations of local, system, global, and regulatory platforms; and understanding leadership theory.

“This is a terrific accomplishment by this dedicated team of physicians,” said Walter Kerschl, MD, CMD, FACP, MMM, chief medical officer at Camden Clark. “One of the best outcomes of the physician leadership academy is for doctors to learn more about themselves. Self-reflection is a key part of effective leadership. Participants also gain a broader view of healthcare.

“With understanding various perspectives, they enhance their influence to lead change processes and strategically collaborate based on the organization’s mission, vision, and values,” Dr. Kerschl continued.
