Wilhelm joins Graduate Medical Education team
Claudia Wilhelm, RN, has been named the director for the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medical Education program.
Wilhelm, who is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems, brings more than thirty-nine years of professional nursing and healthcare experience to the role.
“I look forward to working with individuals throughout the educational enterprise to support the clinical endeavors and well-being of residents and fellows while meeting Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements,” Wilhelm said. “My goal is to bring value, make a positive difference, and get a job done right with precision and accuracy.”
Wilhelm previously served as the Director of IT/Informatics for the Epic Ambulatory and Regional Affiliates Outreach initiative at WVU Healthcare. She also served on the Epic Leadership Team, was the director of Clinical Services and an off-shift supervisor -- among many other roles, duties and responsibilities while at WVU Healthcare.
“Claudia has strong people management skills and and is adept in conflict management,” Manuel Vallejo, M.D., assistant dean of Medical Education, said. “Her experience in healthcare and her background with WVU are an asset.”
Wilhelm joined the GME team this spring, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Starting in such an uncertain period can be occasionally overwhelming,” she said. “However, finding value in people and technology resources, and seeking clarification and reaching out to colleagues for guidance or assistance has been very helpful.”
Wilhelm earned her master’s degree in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University, the same institution where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
In addition to her work with WVU Healthcare, she has also worked with Allegheny General Hospital, NextGen Healthcare, Encore Health Resources and Mon Health Medical Center.
