WVU Medicine updates masking policy

Based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about masking, WVU Medicine is strongly encouraging non-clinical staff who do not work in patient care areas to switch to a medical-grade mask and not use cloth masks.

WVU Medicine is also no longer allowing the use of gaiters at any of its hospitals, clinics, or non-clinical work sites. The changes are reflected in the graphic below.

WVU is recommending the use of KN95 masks when possible, and layering of masks and procedural masks is also better than a single cloth mask. Learn more about how to use KN95 masks.

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear a mask indoors in all WVU System buildings and facilities (except Athletics) through at least Feb. 1, when public health conditions will be reevaluated.
