WVU OT Alumnus Appointed to Serve on Commission on Traumatic Brain Injury

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. According to the Brain Injury Association of America, there are more than 5.3 million individuals in the United States who are living with a permanent brain injury-related disability. That’s one in every 60 people.

According to the American Occupational Therapy Association, many brain injury survivors experience difficulties related to emotional regulation and social participation. Occupational therapy practitioners use evidence-informed strategies to support clients' return to learning, participation, and meaningful daily activities.

On February 21, 2023, Luke Davis, MOT, MBA, OTR/L was appointed by Governor Daniel J. McKee to the Permanent Advisory Commission on Traumatic Brain Injuries to represent Community-Based Services in Rhode Island.

Combined with his educational and clinical expertise, Davis currently serves in the role of Regional Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation Services in Rhode Island for the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. In this role, he has oversight of 9 outpatient clinics in the Care New England network for Kent Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital, and the CNE Medical Group. Additionally, he provides oversight for inpatient therapy at Women & Infants Hospital.

The WVU Division of Occupational Therapy celebrates your success, Luke!
