WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute lights up purple for World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

September is World Alzheimer’s month – a time to shine a purple light for the 50 million people globally who are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Join the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) in going purple and raising awareness this September. All month long, the RNI will light up purple to honor and provide hope for people impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. “Currently there is no cure and there are no effective treatments,” said Ali Rezai, MD, executive chair of the RNI. “Our team is dedicated to finding solutions and hope for patients and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.”

Last October, PBS NewsHour highlighted the first-in-the-world research study at the RNI using an innovative focused ultrasound treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, the RNI team has expanded its Alzheimer’s treatment to a wider region of the brain.
