WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus faculty member joins editorial board of SCORE
Jade Gallimore, DO, MBA, an assistant professor at the WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus department of surgery and program director of general surgery at the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, has been appointed to the editorial board of The Surgical Council on Resident Education (SCORE®), the defined online curriculum blueprint for surgical education in the United States.
SCORE's mission is to improve the education of trainees in general surgery and related specialties through the development and maintenance of a national curriculum. The SCORE Portal was created to provide high-quality educational content, in support of the SCORE Curriculum Outline, to trainees and their programs.
“This is a position of national recognition that makes her one of approximately 30 people who contribute to this effort,” said Bryan K. Richmond, MD, MBA, FACS, Chairman of the WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus Department of Surgery. “This is an honor that is well deserved, as is notable in that she rose to this position after being Program Director for a year”.
“Jade has been making a huge impact on surgical education on the Charleston campus since she arrived, and now she will be making an impact on surgical education across the United States,” said James R. Campbell, II, MD, Associate Vice President for Health Sciences, Charleston Campus and Dean of the WVU School of Medicine, Charleston Campus. “I am very happy to see her recognized on a national level for her contributions to the educational mission.”
Dr. Gallimore completed her undergraduate education in 2009 from Concord University in Athens, WV with degrees in Biology (Recombinant Gene Technology) and Business (Management). She went on to teach high school for two years before returning to the classroom. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015 with a Masters in Business Administration and a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in 2020 and returned to her hometown in Tennessee to practice rural general surgery for just over a year.
She realized during that time that her passion was teaching residents, and she returned to Charleston to join the faculty as a broad-based general surgeon. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and her area of interest includes residency education and advancements.
