WVU School of Medicine’s Warden elected chair of the national Transitional Year Residency Review Committee
Mary Warden, M.D., was elected to serve as chair of the Transitional Year Residency Review Committee with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Warden has been the program director of West Virginia University’s Transitional Year Residency Program since 2005 and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the national organization.
The ACGME committee reviews over 150 active transitional year residency programs annually and ensure they are maintaining accreditation and providing quality medical education for the transitional year residents.
“I have enjoyed working with our residents and being involved in graduate medical education here at the institution,” said Warden. “In recent years I had the opportunity to become involved in graduate medical education on a national level when I was selected to be a member to the ACGME TY Review Committee in 2020.”
“Dr. Warden is one of several of our faculty members who have been asked to serve at the national level with the ACGME. Her thoughtful attention to detail was quickly recognized as a member of the Transitional Year Review Committee and now her peers have selected her to serve as the chair of this important group.” Chief Academic Officer and Vice Dean for Medical Education Norman Ferrari, M.D., said.
Warden is board-certified in internal medicine. She provides patient care in the Medical Group Practice Outpatient clinic and also provides inpatient care at WVU Medicine’s J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Warden earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy at WVU and after practicing as a physical therapist for several years, returned to the University to earn her Doctorate of Medicine. She then completed an internal medicine residency training at WVU.
