Endovascular CAST Fellowship
The Neuroradiology Department at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute offers a CAST (Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training) certified fellowship in Neurointerventional Surgery or Endovascular Neurosurgery. The duration of the fellowship is one to two years depending on the applicant’s previous training and experience.
The West Virginia University Medicine hospital is a comprehensive stroke center and a Level I Trauma Center. It has a large catchment area serving large parts of the state and the counties in the neighboring states. The neurovascular/neurointerventional program has been in existence for 20-years and performs the full gamut of minimally invasive procedures in head, neck, and spine. The program’s procedural volume is amongst the busiest centers in the country covering not just neurovascular procedures but also minimally invasive spine interventions. The program accepts one fellow which allows him/her complete access to a large caseload. Graduating fellows have typically participated in 350-400 neurointerventional procedures (not including diagnostic angiography) during their tenure.
The program has been active in clinical research and is currently leading or participating in key neurovascular trials related to endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke and cerebral aneurysms. Interested fellows will have ample access to clinical research material and opportunities to present and publish.
