ICRC's Blosnich discusses the intersection between faith and suicidal behavior in the LGBQ community

WVU Injury Control and Research Center senior scientist and School of Public Health alumnus Dr. John Blosnich was recently featured in stories highlighting a study linking faith and suicidal behavior in the LGBQ community. Blosnich is also an assistant professor in the School of Medicine's Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry.

The study, published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, was based on data from more than 21,000 U.S. college students. The research team found that greater religious feeling and engagement was tied to increased risk of suicidal thoughts and actions for participants who identified as LGBQ.

The publication has been highlighted by Reuters, Huffington Post and Gay Star News.
