Exploring Pathways: Undergraduate Opportunities at WVU School of Medicine

Immerse yourself in an academic medical center from day one. From the classroom to the clinic and the library to the lab, the School of Medicine, housed on the Health Sciences Campus, has programs and resources to fit every goal and interest - including undergraduate, pre-health majors that serve as excellent preparatory pathways into many advanced degrees:

As a student in West Virginia's only comprehensive academic health sciences center, you'll have access to everything that we have to offer - including:

  • STEPS, a state-of-the-art simulation center, where students are learning life-saving procedures, developing interprofessional communication skills, and using new technologies, before they get into patient care environments.
  • The Human Performance Lab, which gives students the opportunity to work alongside experts to craft customized, clinical exercise programs for disease prevention, management and rehabilitation.
  • Faculty research labs where some of West Virginia's most important medical research is taking place.

As a student in one of the six majors offered in the School of Medicine, you'll also get an unparalleled opportunity through specialized course work. Students often learn anatomy through experiential learning in the Human Cadaver Lab. Many majors emphasize "learning by doing" with ample opportunity to customize curriculum to help you tackle your next step in life with confidence. Learn more about our undergraduate majors below!
