Post Residency

At WVU Urology, we are committed to supporting residents in achieving their individual career goals—whether that path leads to fellowship training or private practice. Our residency program is tailored to provide the clinical, surgical, and academic experiences each resident needs to succeed in their chosen trajectory.

To maximize opportunities, we work with each resident to develop a personalized career plan early in training. This includes identifying faculty mentors, engaging in meaningful research projects, preparing presentations for regional and national meetings, and providing guidance throughout the fellowship or job application process. The goal is to ensure every resident graduates with the skills, experience, and professional network necessary to thrive in their chosen field.

Since the inception of the program, approximately 50% of our graduates have pursued fellowship training at prestigious institutions, including:

  • MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • University of Mississippi Medical Center
  • City of Hope National Medical Center
  • Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego
  • Moffitt Cancer Center, University of South Florida
  • University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
  • University of Wisconsin
  • University of Utah
  • NYU Langone Health
  • University of California, Irvine (UCI)

Whether a resident’s goal is advanced subspecialty training or entering private practice, the program provides mentorship, resources, and structured support to help every trainee achieve their professional aspirations.
