Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine at the West Virginia University Charleston Division provides a vibrant and stimulating environment that fosters the intellectual, personal and professional growth of students, residents, faculty and staff. Our ever changing medical landscape makes for a challenging and exciting arena to improve our educational processes, clinical care, and research opportunities.

Excellent education, research and clinical care is provided daily on the Charleston Campus of West Virginia University and our partner Charleston Area Medical Center. Our mission is to provide service for today, teaching for tomorrow, and research for the future of all West Virginians.

At the Charleston campus of WVU, we have the luxury of being the only tertiary care medical center for a catchment of nearly one million people which stretches north into Ohio, west into Kentucky, south into Virginia and east half way across the state. This gives us access to many ‘one in a million’ cases.

The department of Medicine has highly trained and skilled specialists who provide care in a variety of disciplines.

The Department of Medicine devotes a significant effort to teaching. From residents and students to fellows alike, we are committed to providing the most diverse education with an abundance of opportunities for learners. By offering a broad exposure to general medicine as well as our specialists, we offer a challenging and supportive environment with dedicated and accessible faculty.

By engaging in research as well as clinical trials, we are committed to providing world-class resources and care to all West Virginians.
