Consultation-Liason Psychiatry

LOCATION: Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia

Objectives

To provide educational experience for students in the evaluation of psychiatric illness in the medical/surgical patient. This rotation is also designed to introduce the student to the assessment of psychiatric patients in an emergency room setting. Students will have the options of also choosing one or more days per week to participate in child and adolescent consultation-liaison psychiatry or psychosomatic medicine experiences.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Through direct patient care; assessment, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Assisting and educating medical/surgical clinicians in the care of mentally ill patients in a general hospital setting.

Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

Daily observation.
