FLS/FES

The West Virginia Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (WV Steps) in conjunction with the WVU Department of Surgery, has been approved by Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) as the first Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) Test Centers in the state of West Virginia.

A valid certificate of FLS and FES is mandatory by the American Board of Surgery for a General Surgery Resident prior to applying for ABS Qualifying Examination.

There is currently a certified proctor/examiner within the Department of Surgery.
