Costello reappointed to National AAP Committee on State Government Affairs

Lisa Costello, M.D.,MPH, an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics, has been reappointed to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on State Government Affairs. Costello has previously served on the committee for the past two years.

The committee coordinates all state legislative and regulatory issues of pediatric concern and recommends to the Board of Directors the priority of state issues based on their political feasibility and value to children. That ranges from a wide variety of topics, from increasing access to care to promoting child safety and injury prevention, among many more.

"It is a true honor to be reappointed to the AAP Committee on State Government Affairs. The AAP Committee on State Government Affairs plays a crucial role in defining an agenda for child health policy across the nation, empowering members to engage in advocacy, and among many other important roles, addressing pressing policy issues for children and families at the state level," said Costello. "Pediatricians are the voice for children; we strive to be right and credible. The dedicated work of COSGA enables pediatricians to use our credible voices to improve child health."

The AAP is an organization of 67,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
