Shaver named vice president for medical affairs, associate chief medical officer

Erica Shaver, MD, MBA, has been named vice president for medical affairs and associate chief medical officer for WVU Hospitals, effective Jan. 1.

Dr. Shaver is a professor in the WVU Departments of Emergency Medicine and Medical Education. She joined the faculty in 2011 and has held a number of administrative roles during her tenure at WVU. She is currently serving as the acting designated institutional official (DIO) for Graduate Medical Education and will transition out of that role over the next several months.

In her new role, Shaver will act as the liaison between the medical staff, clinical departments, the chief medical officer (Michael Edmond, MD), and the executive leadership team of WVU Hospitals, and will coordinate this interrelationship in the pursuit of the highest quality medical care. She will be responsible for medical staff organizational functions as set forth in the bylaws and policies developed by the Medical Executive Committee.
