WVU Charleston Surgery’s Dr. Andrew Walker Honored with CAMC Heart and Soul Award

Andrew Walker, MD, an Assistant Professor with the West Virginia University School of Medicine Charleston Campus Department of Surgery has been honored by Charleston Area Medical Center with The CAMC Heart and Soul Award in their humanitarian category.

The humanitarian category of Heart and Soul recognizes employees for acts of kindness and charity that promote the well-being or improves the life of someone in our community. It also includes actions of bravery, courage and selflessness.

The person who nominated Andrew Walker, MD, for this award was attending a party in restaurant in Hilton Head.

There was a man sitting at the bar that suddenly collapsed and fell on the floor.

Dr. Walker was at another table with another group. When the man collapsed, Dr. Walker assessed the situation and administered CPR until the man began to respond. After recovery, Dr. Walker checked him out to make sure he was OK.
