WVU Pulmonary Faculty Present at the American Association of Sleep Medicine (AASM) National Meeting

Sunil Sharma, MD and Robert Stansbury, MD recently presented at the American Association of Sleep Medicine (AASM) National Meeting in Indianapolis. Dr. Stansbury and Dr. Sharma highlighted the Proposed Model of an In-Patient Sleep Medicine Program and how it can contribute to improving patient care nationally. 

"The symposium highlights the emergence of hospital sleep medicine, a novel concept and service pioneered by WVU in the national discourse", said Dr. Sharma.

Dr. Robert Stansbury who co-chaired the National meeting commented on Advances in Clinical Sleep Medicine sharing "WVU's hospital sleep medicine program offers a one potential mechanism to address the growing sleep apnea epidemic, which is of particular relevance to rural areas such as West Virginia that suffer significant care disparity and have high rates of cardiopulmonary disease."
