Letter from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our dermatology program at West Virginia University. We strive to create a fun, yet rigorous environment for resident education. Whether your goal is to become a general dermatologist, an academic dermatologist, or pursue fellowship training, I’m confident that our program will provide opportunities for future success.

We have eight full-time faculty members including specialists in general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and Mohs surgery. Our residents have ample opportunity to practice dermatology including designated rotations in pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic. Our curriculum includes bedside teaching, weekly half-day designated didactics, and opportunities to attend national and local conferences. Scholarly projects are encouraged, and our residents frequently publish multiple papers during their residency. We are currently accepting three dermatology residents per year and are committed to accepting the most qualified applicants.

The main clinical care and teaching site for our program is a beautiful, newly constructed outpatient clinic with expansive views of Morgantown and the surrounding areas. We also cover consultation services at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, a 645 bed state-of-the-art facility as well as the WVU medicine children’s hospital that was recently completed in 2022.

Finally, a major strength of our program is our location in Morgantown, WV. Morgantown is consistently ranked among the “best small cities to live.” Outdoor activities include skiing, hiking, boating, rock climbing, mountain biking, and so much more. There is a diverse offering of cultural, dining and entertainment opportunities. It is also an ideal place to raise a family with affordable housing and an excellent school system. We are only a one hour drive to Pittsburgh and just over three hours from the Baltimore/Washington DC area. Learn about Your Morgantown Experience and begin planning your future.

I appreciate your interest in our program, and I look forward to meeting you in the future.

Sincerely,

Zachary Zinn, MD
