Students of the WVU HIIM program who fulfill all academic requirements are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA®) examination upon the final semester of the program. The curriculum also helps prepare graduates for professional certifications such as the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS®),  Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA®) and the Certification in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS®). Eligibility does not guarantee a passing score or automatic award of the credential, as certification decisions are based on individual performance as determined by the American Health Information Management Association.
