Letter from Director

The mission of our fully ACGME accredited fellowship is to give a comprehensive training experience in the discipline of neuroradiology based on the values of compassionate, ethical, evidence based, high quality, innovative care of patients with diseases of the nervous system. We do this in an active academic environment. The trainee is mentored individually and challenged daily to achieve a high level of competence and education in the performance, interpretation, and consultation of state-of-the-art imaging and cutting edge procedural interventions. Trainees will be groomed with skills in critical analysis of literature and clinical data to be successful candidates for the Neuroradiology CAQ and to be well suited for positions in teaching, research, or clinical practice. Our resources include a dedicated and committed faculty, a high volume and diverse patient mix attracted by strong faculty and clinical programs in the neurosciences, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and Emergency Medicine, among others. Program resources include a remarkably complete assortment of very modern imaging equipment and fully deployed PACS and workstations for post-processing and specialized display of our Angiographic, CR, CT, CTA, CT Perfusion, PET, PET/CT/MR fusion, MRI, MRA, MR spectroscopy, fMRI, and other studies.

Busy multidisciplinary stroke program offers the trainee ample opportunity to master skills of stroke intervention and management. High volume neurovascular surgery program provides us opportunity for coil, particle, and glue embolization procedures. High volume Head and Neck Oncology service provides opportunity for embolizations, balloon test occlusions with cerebral blood flow analyses. High volume spine services provide opportunity for a variety of imaging and interventions. Active epilepsy surgery program provides opportunity for fMRI, stereotactic localization CT and MR, and Wada testing. Active Gamma Knife radiosurgery program provides opportunities for specialized stereotactic neuroimaging and angiography.

Neuroimaging research directed within our department with multidisciplinary participation provides opportunity to rigorously review the basic and clinical sciences that support innovations in our discipline, and to develop new ideas.
