Geriatrics

The Geriatrics rotation is a block-long experience that exposes you to hospice palliative medicine, nursing home care, and a retirement community in Morgantown.  This rotation is coordinated by the Geriatrics faculty within the department of Family Medicine.

During this rotation, you will be responsible for the day-to-day medical needs of patients requiring different levels of care.  You will learn, through multidisciplinary expertise, how to coordinate elder care throughout the end-of-life.

You will experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions in this population, and most importantly, providing information to patients and family that will allow for informed decision making. This rotation will complement the longitudinal experience that you learn throughout residency.
