Surgical Subspecialty Clinics

The surgical subspecialty clinics rotation is a 2 week outpatient clinical experience that predominantly takes place at the newly renovated Physician’s Office Center at WVU Medicine’s Ruby Memorial Hospital. This rotation is intended to further supplement outpatient surgical evaluation and post-operative follow up clinical encounters experienced during the PGY-1 surgery rotation. This experience includes Bariatrics, Otolaryngology, Vascular, Wound Care, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Pediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, and Hand surgery.

You will have the opportunity to expand your depth of proficiency in a broad spectrum of patient encounters that will benefit your own continuity clinics. While this rotation will focus on developing your skills of clinical evaluation, differential diagnosis, management, maintenance, and consideration of appropriate specialty referral, it will also provide an opportunity for patient/family education regarding treatment options and preventative medicine.
