WVU School of Medicine undergrads showcase research

The 11th annual West Virginia University Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium took place on Thursday, July 25, at the WVU Erikson Alumni Center. More than 100 students presented their research and creative efforts from a variety of disciplines.

Student talks to event judges.

Twelve students from the School of Medicine’s Immunology and Medical Microbiology program showcased their work. Participants included Quinn Hopen, Wendy Jent, Katherine Lee, Lily Schelling, Claire Kelly, Sophia Kenney, Caleb Kisamore, Aaron Malkowski, Nicholas Miller, Gwendolyn Nurkiewicz, Travis Rawson and Alyson Stevens.

The ability to participate in research as an undergraduate student is a unique offering for students nationally, but a highlight and focus of WVU as an R1 designated research center.
