The Adult Reconstruction Service participates in the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) and has an electronic patient database for clinical and translational research.  The fellow has access the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory for work on prosthetic joint infection and biofilm, biomechanics, cell therapies, and nanotechnologies.  The fellow is expected to produce high quality research for publication and presentation at meetings and at least a half-day a week will be dedicated to research.  The laboratory staff includes PhD faculty, research specialists, coordinators and assistants to assist with projects.  The laboratory coordinates multidisciplinary research with the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology, Pathology, and Infectious Diseases and promotes collaboration with the West Virginia University College of Engineering.
