High Risk Obstetrics

Objectives

To augment student's understanding of clinical high risk obstetrics, including prenatal diagnosis, obstetrical ultrasound, and antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care of high risk mother and fetus.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Students will participate with a Perinatologist in the work-up and care of patients in the outpatient setting as well as in the hospital. Students will also participate in daily rounds with the resident staff and will have certain patients assigned to them. They will also participate daily in decision making though diagnostic testing and therapy. The students will obtain a basic knowledge of fetal monitoring, ultrasound, and pathophysiology of common high-risk obstetrical problems.

Two informal presentations; one clinical and one more elementary

WVU Students/Visiting Students: 4th year coordinator will email students one week prior with assignment.  Visiting students will first attend an Orientation before starting; you will receive an email one week prior with detailed Orientation information.
