Adolescent Medicine

LOCATION: Pediatric Clinic, Children's Medicine Center, Women & Children's Hospital, Charleston, West Virginia
PRECEPTOR: Stephen Sondike, M. D.
DURATION: 2 or 4 weeks
OFFERED: Intermittently
MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 1 student ( Student will have to drive to off site clinic at times)
STATUS: Elective

Objectives

Learn psychosocial and physical development of the adolescent 2. Learn skills in communication with adolescent and family members 3. Learn elements of family dynamics

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Direct contact with patients; list of required reading, including handouts and books, and copies of previous lectures on substances, contraception, depression, approach to the adolescent and "WV Teens"
