RHIT® to BS in HIIM

The Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT®) to Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program provides a pathway for current health information management professionals to complete their BS in HIIM:

  • Fully online, and
  • At the in-state tuition rate, regardless of state of residency.

Admission Requirements

Prospective students seeking to enter the RHIT® to BS in HIIM program must meet all WVU requirements for transfer applicants. In addition: 

  • Applicants must have earned an associate's degree from a Health Information Management (HIM) program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). 
  • Applicants must hold an active RHIT® credential.

Current employment in the field is not a requirement for admission. However, on a case-by-case basis, some curricular requirements may be waived for individuals with significant relevant employment history.
