Intraoperative Critical Care
LOCATION: Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, West Virginia
PRECEPTOR: WVU CLINICAL FACULTY / Anesthesia Course Director, Dr. Coombe, will make an assignment of one preceptor for each student

STATUS: This rotation fulfills the senior year requirement for Critical Care.
Objectives
This course has been specifically designed for the student whose primary interest is in a surgical specialty, critical care medicine, or anesthesiology; therefore, the major emphasis is directed toward those facets of the practice of anesthesia involving preoperative evaluation and the intraoperative critical care of the surgical patient.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
Disturbances of normal physiology (pathophysiology) resulting from the primary illness, the surgical procedure and the anesthetic are discussed so that the appropriate therapeutic measures become obvious to the student.

Pre-Rotation Instructions
WVU/Visiting Students -Contact the 4th year Coordinator for preceptor information and time to report one week prior. (Visiting students must attend an Orientation before beginning rotations at CAMC; you will receive detailed Orientation information one week prior to your start date)
