General Practice OB/GYN

LOCATION: Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, West Virginia
PRECEPTORS: Department of OB GYN Faculty
DURATION: 4 weeks or 2 weeks 
MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 students

STATUS: Elective – Sub I in General Practice OB GYN does not satisfy 4th year Sub-I requirement.

Objectives

Experience in clinical obstetrics and gynecology including ambulatory care, emergency care, management of normal and high risk obstetrics during prenatal, intrapartum and post-partum periods, family planning, infertility management, diagnosis and management of gynecologic malignancies, gynecologic pathology and introduction of gynecological surgical techniques.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Clinical experience is provided under the supervision of the full-time faculty, clinical faculty and the resident staff, in obstetrics and gynecologic clinics, labor and delivery rooms and the operating rooms. There are teaching conferences, ward rounds and didactic lectures given by the faculty.

Pre-Rotation Instructions

WVU Students/Visiting Students: 4th year coordinator will email students one week prior with assignment services and time to report. Visiting students will first attend an Orientation before starting; you will receive an email one week prior with detailed Orientation information.
