Career Information

Many of our residents have matriculated through WVU residency and have matched to prestigious fellowships and private practice with great success. 

Since 2019, percentage of residents who are fellowship trained:

  • 2019: 50% (3/6) - Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Allegheny, Pediatric Anesthesia at UPMC, Regional and Acute Pain at the University of Virginia 
  • 2020: 66% (4/6) -Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, Pain Medicine at WVU, Regional and Acute Care at WVU, Regional and Acute Care UPMC.
  • 2021: 66% (4/6) - It is our great pleasure to say that four of our current CA3 residents matched with the fellowships! Pediatrics at Children's National, Pain Medicine at WVU, Critical Care Medicine and Adult Cardiothoracic at University of Kentucky, Pediatrics at UPMC! Congrats to our Residents!!! 

Residents from the WVU Anesthesiology program have had tremendous success in board exams during and after residency. 

Over the past 5 years:
Post-graduation written board pass rate 100%
Basic exam pass rate 92%
Oral board first time pass rate 87%

100% of graduates for the last 5 years are board certified (outside of new, board eligible graduates)
