James Bardes, M.D.

James Bardes, M.D., is an assistant professor of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care.

Dr. Bardes completed his Trauma fellowship and Surgical Critical Care training at the Los Angeles County Medical Center + University of Southern California after completing his surgical residency at WVU. While completing his residency, he served as chief resident.

Before attending West Virginia University School of Medicine, Dr. Bardes was an Emergency Medical Technician for several years. This early exposure to prehospital care has shaped his career and is evident in both his education and research endeavors.

He is a current member of the American College of Surgeons and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

He is a certified instructor for Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET), Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS), Bleeding Control (BCon) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
