Urgent Care

The Urgent Care rotation is a two week long outpatient clinical experience that takes place at WVU Medicine’s acute care facilities in Morgantown. The rotation combines facets of all subspecialties while focusing on acute management, formulation of differential diagnoses, development of sound approaches to triage, coordination of care with primary care providers and facilitating transfer of care when necessary.

In addition to acute medical illness, you will become proficient in evaluation and management of acute presentations, including common injuries that are often not seen in continuity clinics. You will work directly with staff emergency medicine and family medicine attendings from WVU Medicine. You will become proficient with x-ray interpretation, splinting, acute eye injury evaluation/slit lamp exams, wound care, and suturing.
