Objectives

1. Learn the differential diagnosis of, relative frequency of, and evaluation of common GI and liver diseases.
2. Learn the indications for costs of, and complications of endoscopic and biopsy procedures.
3. Learn the indications and contraindications for referral of patients by primary care physicians to gastroenterologists.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

1. Work-up and follow all primary care patients assigned;
2. See in consultation and present to the attending;
3. By attending and observing outpatient endoscopic procedures and motility studies done in an ambulatory care setting;
4. to review pertinent films, sonograms, and CT scans.

Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

Clinical evaluation by attending, attendance and participation in all assigned patient care activities and completion of assigned readings
