Objectives
- Learn the differential diagnosis of, relative frequency of, and evaluation of common GI and liver diseases.
- Learn the indications for costs of, and complications of endoscopic and biopsy procedures.
- Learn the indications and contraindications for referral of patients by primary care physicians to gastroenterologists.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
- Work-up and follow all primary care patients assigned;
- See in consultation and present to the attending;
- By attending and observing outpatient endoscopic procedures and motility studies done in an ambulatory care setting;
- to review pertinent films, sonograms, and CT scans.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Clinical evaluation by attending, attendance and participation in all assigned patient care activities and completion of assigned readings
