Nephrology Consultaion

Objectives
To help students become competent in evaluating and treating nephrological problems by presenting an exposure to the diagnosis and management of fluid and electrolyte disorders, acid-base disturbances, acute and chronic renal failure, dialysis, hypertension, and transplantation.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
- Initial evaluation of interesting Nephrology consultations and management of their problems;
- Supervised introduction into the use of diagnostic evaluation of the urine and sediment;
- Discussions and reviews of articles on renal pathology, fluid and electrolyte and acid-base disorders; chronic and kidney disease; acute and chronic kidney disease;
- Basic exposure to the use of renal replacement modalities – acute and chronic hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Daily observation.
