Pediatric General Practice
LOCATION: Tuscarora Primary Care Clinic and UHP Pediatrics, 2010 Dr. Oates Drive, Martinsburg, WV and/or UHP Cliinic, 2000 Professional Court, Martinsburg, WV
PRECEPTOR: Dr. Scott Vascik or Dr. William Wear
DURATION: 2 weeks
OFFERED: Intermittently (limit of 6 rotations per year; must be coordinated through the Eastern Division Office of Student Services)

Objectives
Become familiar with the comprehensive care of the child from birth to age 18 in both health and illness in the primary care setting. Join an interdisciplinary team in a pediatric outpatient clinic. Learn and reinforce clinical and analytical thinking skills. Learn from exposure to the commonly seen pediatric well and ill child/adolescent clinic visits. Acquire skills in pediatric patient education, wellness and preventative medicine.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
Evaluate children of all ages through history and physical examination. Select the appropriate studies, procedures, and treatments necessary to maintain or restore health in the most economical and humane manner. Provide counseling and guidance to children and their families in matters of health and family life.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Written clinical performance evaluation. Oral presentation evaluation. Direct observation and feedback.
