Objectives
Join and learn in a structured outpatient interdisciplinary learning environment. Reinforce clinical and analytical skills. Learn commonly performed procedural skills appropriate for Primary Care Sports Medicine, with emphasis on musculoskeletal and athletic injuries. Acquire skills in patient education, wellness promotion and preventive medicine. Recognize the connection between patient health, home environment and access to community resources.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
Review patients musculoskeletal anatomy, physiology and pathology while delivering direct patient care experience and assessment and management of injuries and concerns. Accomplish a complete comprehensive assessment of patient injury with attention to components. Oral presentation on the outpatient evaluation and management of a common illness or athletic injury.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Direct observation and feedback. Written clinical performance evaluation. Oral presentation evaluation.
