STATUS: This rotation fulfills a senior year requirement for an Acute Care rotation.
Objectives
To obtain and evaluate knowledge in the field of surgical critical care.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
Guided, direct participation in all aspects of critical care. Measurement of ventilatory and circulatory parameters, ventilator use and management, insertion of hemodynamic catheters, use of vasoactive drugs, and nutrition in critically ill patients.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Daily observation, weekly didactics, and an assigned presentation.
