Trauma Surgery Subinternship (Sub-I)

STATUS: This rotation fulfills the senior year requirement for an Inpatient Subinternship
Objectives
An intensive clinical exposure to the management of the trauma patient and other surgical emergencies.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
The subintern will share patient care responsibilities with the resident staff and will be supervised by the faculty. Graduated responsibilities to the level of an intern should be expected during the rotation. Participation in acute trauma resuscitation and management in the ED. Participation in operative cases. Participation in the care of the trauma patient in the ICU. Participation in overnight and weekend call with 4 call shifts.
Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria
Documentation available in the department. Will meet with preceptor on first day of rotation and at two week mid rotation evaluation.
