Vascular Surgery
LOCATION: Ruby Memorial Hospital and Physician Office Center, Morgantown, WV

Objectives
- To become familiar with the recognition/natural evolution and general and specific treatment of vascular surgical conditions that the student would be expected to encounter in a general practice in medicine.
- To familiarize the student with the essential pathophysiology of these conditions and the specific requirements and responses of the vascular patient with multiple comorbidities to vascular illness.
- Learn to recognize vascular emergencies.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
The student will attend all scheduled teaching conferences with the resident staff. The student will share patient care responsibilities with the resident staff and will be supervised by the faculty. The student will be involved in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care on the wards, in the clinic and/or emergency department, and the operating suite. At the end of the rotation the student will be required to make a 30-minute formal presentation on a vascular topic of their choosing to the vascular service faculty and residents at Vascular Grand Rounds.
