Alumni
The annual WVU Department of Otolaryngology Alumni Conference was held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place. Our guest speaker was Dr. Carole Fakhry, Professor of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Fakhry also serves as Vice President of Clinical Practice Association, and the Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at Johns Hopkins University.
Following the conference, a banquet was held to honor graduating residents, as well as several resident, faculty, and staff award winners. The graduating residents recognized were Erica McArdle, MD, Moaz Sinan, MD, and Ian Sunyecz, DO.
In addition, several residents were recognized with awards for their research and clinical efforts throughout the academic year. The award recipients were as follows:
- Touma Ear Foundation Research Award – Bryan Hankey, DO
- Sobisca S. Hall Research Award – William Marshall, MD
- Fortunata Lim Research Award – Olivia Nieto Rickenbach, MD
- Stephen J. Wetmore Research Award – Elsie Barry, MD
- Ramadan Research Award – Jack Dewey, MD
- Dr. Anthony & Carole Oliverio Resident Clinical Achievement Award – Jack Dewey, MD & Olivia Nieto Rickenbach, MD
Chairman Dr. Hassan Ramadan presented the Otolaryngology Chairman’s Award to Hussein Jaffal, MD.
The graduating residents also presented the Otolaryngology Teaching Award to Christopher Eric Bailey, MD, and the Otolaryngology Service Award to Shannon Thompkins, APRN.
