Objectives

This rotation is designed to provide the student with a broad overview of community and of hospital based infectious diseases.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Students will see patients with a wide variety of infectious diseases and will write the consultation note after presenting the case to an infectious disease attending. An extensive library of books and reprints concerning infectious diseases will be available. A portion of the rotation will be spent in the clinical routine cultures of blood sputum, urine, spinal fluid, etc. Attending rounds are held daily and there are daily clinical infectious disease conferences. Appropriate antibiotic usage is stressed.

Pre-Rotation Instructions

WVU Students/Visiting Students: 4th year coordinator will email students one week prior with assignment of team and time to report.  Visiting students will first attend an Orientation before starting; you will receive an email one week prior with detailed Orientation information
