Joint Transitional Year

Our popular joint transitional year internship is linked to the ophthalmology training program. Once a student has matched to our ophthalmology program, an automatic spot in the TY program is secured through the ERAS match in the spring. The TY program offers three months of ophthalmology electives to enable our interns the opportunity to gain experience in the PGY-1 year, get to know the ophthalmology team early on and better appreciate the WVU Hospital system. These experiences provide a head start to ophthalmology and allow an easy transition to the PGY-2 year for our residents.
