DR FOLEY APPOINTMENTS Spring semester schedule for Dr. Foley appointments have been added to SOLE.

TOWN HALL. Featured guest will be Dr. Ali Rezai the executive chair and vice president of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute to be held Wednesday, January 17th at 12 pm in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. Alongside Dr. Clay Marsh and Albert Wright, Dr. Rezai will recap what’s new in patient care and research at the institute and talk about some of the new faces you’ll be seeing in the hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.

FINANCIAL AID LOAN COUNSELING.  On January 18th 2018 representatives from the Financial Aid Office in Morgantown will be in Charleston to provide one-on-one loan counseling for you.  These representatives will review your loan portfolios so that they can give you information specific to your needs.  In the past students have found this very beneficial information as you begin to plan for residency. An email with a survey attached went out on January 5, 2018, that you should fill out so that the representatives can provide you with the best information -  then send them back to lflorence@hsc.wvu.edu and she will forward them. The schedule for the day will be emailed at a later date.  Please take advantage of this opportunity!  It will serve you well!   Please Contact Laura Florence for any questions.

PEDS Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC.  Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC.  If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities

VOLUNTEER SPEAKING OPPORTUNITY Prostate Cancer Support Group is looking for students to speak on various prostate cancer topics for 15-20 minutes, with a potential Q&A session.  Meetings held 6:30-8:30pm on second Thursday of each month, 2nd floor of Dorothy McCormack Building.  Contact Dr. Paul Kradel, 304-267-2520, if interested. 

JUDGES NEEDED Berkeley County Schools Science Fair: Sat., Feb. 3rd, 9am-12pm, at Martinsburg High School.  Volunteers will assist with judging county science fair projects.  Continental breakfast: 8:30am.  Lunch: 11:00am.  To volunteer or for additional information, contact Joyce Hobbs: jhobbs@k12.wv.us or 304-702-3703. 

STEPPING STONES/GOOD SMARITAN FREE CLINIC Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm.  New location: 601 S. FUN OPPORTUNITY Sat., Jan. 20th, 9am-12pm, at Jefferson County Community Ministries in downtown Charles Town.  Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations. Help needed with setup, tear-down, cooking process, and interacting with patrons.  Future events to be held on third Saturday of each month.  For additional information, contact: Audreanna James, OMS-III.  Link to sign-up sheet
