Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Objectives

To develop a better understanding of the basic concepts in Pediatric Infectious Disease and learn how to diagnosis and manage commonly encountered infections in pediatric and adolescent age groups.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Student will interview, examine, and discuss patients in clinics and in-patient consults. Attend one on one teaching sessions twice weekly. Arrangements will be made for students to have "hands on" experience in Microbiology laboratory for common in-office procedures including Gram Stain and microscopic identification of common pathogens.

Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

Daily observation.

Pre-Rotation Instructions

WVU/Visiting Students – Please report to Pediatric Sub-Specialty office at 8:30 AM CAMC Womens and Children’s first floor. (Visiting students must attend an Orientation before beginning rotations at CAMC; you will receive detailed Orientation information one week prior to your start date)
