Pediatric Subinternship
LOCATION: CAMC Women and Children's Hospital -Charleston, West Virginia
PRECEPTOR: Department of Pediatrics Faculty
DURATION: 4 weeks for Sub I
OFFERED: Continuously
MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 students
STATUS: This rotation fulfills the senior year requirement for subinternship.
Objectives
- To be able to identify the high-risk neonate and become effective in delivery room management of such a patient.
- To better understand the pathophysiology involved in disease process encountered in the neonate.
- To understand the basic treatment modalities used in the treatment of the ill neonate.
Methods to Achieve Objectives
These objectives will be reached by active participation in the work-up and management of the ill neonate. Participation will include daily attending rounds, attendance at all teaching conferences, and the preparation of an in-depth study and report on a topic in neonatology.

Pre-Rotation Instructions
WVU Students/Visiting Students: The 4th year coordinator will email students one week prior with assignment. Visiting students will first attend an Orientation before starting; you will receive an email one week prior with detailed Orientation information.
