Daily round, Outpatient Clinic twice a week, Operating 3 days a week. Conferences- student/resident teaching, Tumor Boards, Quality

What is the biggest challenge of being a Thoracic Surgeon?

It is fun and good life. No real challenge

How do you foresee Thoracic Surgery changing over the next 20 years?

More previously unresectable cancers will become resectable as salvage surgery. Already most cases are done robotic and minimally invasive which will continue to grow

What advice would you give a student who is considering a Thoracic Surgery residency?

Should go for it. Great specialty. Have both I-6 (6 year program) or traditional path of 5 year of general surgery and 2-3 year of CT surgery fellowship.
