Is there a particular population of students (e.g., ethnicity, spiritual, sexual orientation) that you would particularly like to advise?

Happy to meet and mentor all students!

What does a typical day in the life of an Obstetrician Gynecologist include?

One of my favorite things about OBGYN is that every day is different! Your day can vary from clinic (with procedures!), inpatient care, Operating in the OR, and my favorite- Labor and Delivery.  You can cater and adapt your practice to your interests. But rest assured, OBGYN is a busy and exciting field that never gets boring and keeps you on your toes!

What is the biggest challenge of being an Ob/Gyn?

I think the biggest challenge at times is the dedication it takes to both obstetrical training and surgical training. Knowing your work-life balance goals helps with this. It is worth it to have the honor to care for women and their families.

Another new challenge to our field is the effect of political climates on our training and ability to care for women.

How do you foresee Ob/Gyn changing over the next 20 years?

I forsee OBGYN as being seen and valued as any other surgical specialty in the next 20 years. I see women also taking a stand for improved reproductive rights and access in the next 20 years as well.

What advice would you give a student who is considering a Ob/Gyn residency?

Be passionate! Get involved with the team! Ask questions!
